“Seamus, look at our flag up on the Post Office.” The flag was on the G.P.O.

“I remember well marching along O’Connell Street. Charlie Saurin was ahead of me in the ranks, and he turned around and in a most excited voice said to me: “Seamus, Seamus, look at our flag up on the Post Office.”

The flag was on the G.P.O. – the Republican Flag; and the big green flag with a green harp on it was flying from the corner. The green was was flying from Henry Street Corner. On the main centre building was the tricolour.”
