From Nathan To Birrell, Irish office, April 25th
Troops arrived from Curragh last night. Town Hall required for safety of Castle occupied by our troops as well as Custom House, Trinity College, and several houses in Stephen’s Green from which Green itself cleared of Sinn Feiners. Otherwise situation in Dublin not much altered since yesterday’s telegram. Sinn Feiners still occupy buildings there in named as well as many houses in Stephen’s Green, Sackville Street, Abbey Street and along quays. Total losses as far as I have been able to ascertain them 2 policemen 3 military officers 4 or 5 soldiers and 2 loyal volunteers killed and 3 or 5 military officers 7 or 8 soldiers and six loyal volunteers wounded. Reports received from Cork, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee and both ridings of Tipperary show that everything normal in those directions.
