From SS Sands To Chief Supt

We have a crowd here of about 30 refugees who had to leave their homes in Eden Quay owing to the firing and a large fire is burning at the back of their houses there. They were brought here by a military officer, I sent word to the Officer in Trinity Grounds to see if he would take them in there. The reply was there is enough of room but no food but to ask the Castle Authorities what to do.

Please say what will I do with them.

Reply: Let them remain with you for the present. HQ 27 4 16
