Telephone message received at the R.I.C. Office at 2-45p.m. from the Commandant R.I.C. Depot
“Sergeant Faun got to Ballinasloe at 7-20p.m. last night and delivered the ammunition. Ballinasloe, Moate, Athlone, Kilbeggan, Enfield, Kilcock, Maynooth, Leixlip and Lucan were all right as he passed through them this morning. He got back to Depot about one today. He heard from the policemen at Ballinasloe that there are 60 R.I.C. at Athenry, and when he heard it they were believed to be all right. He also heard that five or six hundred Sinn Feiners were posted in an unoccupied Castle near Athenry, also that Oranmore R.I.C barracks and Ballyturin (?) Hut had been captured.
