Cotta Dublin,

John Riordan and Daniel Harrington arrested by me today for entering while armed at 4am on 22nd inst. Houses of Jeremiah Casey and Ml Sweeney of Rahoona, Macroom, and by menaces obtaining possession of arms belonging to owners. They are lodged in Cork bridewell. Both are prominent Irish Volunteers. Have notified Fortress Commander Queenstown and Co Inspector Macroom.

  1. D.I. Moriarty is Cecil Charles Hudson Moriarty (1877-1958) who was a District Inspector in the Detective Department in Dublin Castle from 1 February 1914 to 6 July 1918 when he was appointed Assistant Chief Constable in the Birmingham City Police.
    Mr,. Mercer is District Inspector George Hugh Mercer, Private Secretary to the RIC Inspector General from 27 January 1911 until his appointment as a Resident Magistrate on 22 March 1918.
